Study links heavy AI use to lower university grades
A study at NTNU surveyed 160 first-year students in spring 2026 about their use of generative AI, NRK reports. Thirteen percent said they rely heavily on AI for assignments, 74 percent use it occasionally and 13 percent do not use it. Students who used AI frequently averaged a grade of 3.2 (about a D), those who used it less often averaged 4.2 (about a C), and non-users averaged 5.1 (about a B). The findings were published in late October 2026.
