A study of 2,546 men by researchers at the University of Eastern Finland links protein sources to testosterone levels. Men with the highest animal protein intake had lower total testosterone than those with the lowest intake, by an average of 1.2 nanomoles per litre. Men with the highest plant protein intake had levels 1.1 nanomoles per litre higher than the lowest-intake group. Higher dairy protein intake was linked to lower total testosterone and sex hormone-binding globulin. The study does not show that changing diets raises testosterone.

More than 400 locally acquired dengue cases have been reported in the United States this year, almost all in Florida, marking the biggest domestic outbreak in nearly a hundred years. The surge is tied to the death of an elderly resident and to travelers who returned infected from endemic regions, passing the virus to local Aedes aegypti mosquitoes. A drought followed by June rains helped hatch resilient mosquito eggs, and Tampa recorded a sharp rise in cases after showing less preparedness than southern counties.

Germany has introduced new recommendations for coronavirus vaccination, according to Euronews. In 2025, only 34% of people aged 60 and over received a flu shot, the lowest level in 17 years, as reported by the Robert Koch Institute (RKI). The same year, just 16% of seniors were vaccinated against COVID-19. The RKI advises flu shots for seniors, those with chronic conditions, care home residents, medical staff, pregnant women, and individuals in contact with pigs or poultry. Some statutory health‑insurance patients do not receive full reimbursement for the coronavirus vaccine because of the reduced recommendation.

A new Lancet report identifies the online manosphere as a source of under‑recognised health damage and recommends a coordinated public‑health response. It connects participation in these communities with social isolation, reluctance to seek mental health care and increased gender‑based violence. The authors argue that content moderation alone will not curb the appeal of the manosphere and call for broader social and economic policies, including employment and social‑protection measures, to address underlying economic insecurity.

An ultrasound appointment is set to follow a recent mammogram that doctors described as normal. The patient had postponed her breast biopsy for a year before undergoing the imaging, during which she experienced pain from breast compression. After the scan she waited alone in a small room, and the physician reassured her that the results were fine and she could breathe easier.
