The US Treasury on Wednesday imposed sanctions on companies and individuals in India and Turkey accused of supporting Iran. The measures form part of the Trump administration's Operation Economic Outcast, which aims to block Iran's oil sales that fund its war with the US and Israel. Targets include India-based Suniel Kumar Sharma, his wife Jaspreet Preeti Shahid, two other Indian citizens heading their businesses, and nine entities linked to Sharma. Turkey-based Fugo Ground Services Inc was also sanctioned over its support of Iran's aviation sector. The announcement came a day after Democrats won control of both houses of Congress in midterm elections.
