The Italian ambassador to Georgia, Massimiliano D’Antuono, receives a Giffoni delegation at the embassy as they arrive for the ninth Taoba International Youth Film Festival. The six‑day event, aimed at filmmakers aged 13 to 18, will feature four Italian films in competition and include screenings, contests, meetings and workshops. During the meeting the ambassador congratulated the four Giffoni representatives.

Americans vote on Tuesday, 3 Nov, in midterm elections that will fill all 435 House seats and 35 Senate seats. More than 53 million people had already cast early ballots, a midterm record, according to Dawn. Democrats lead Republicans by 7.8 percentage points among likely voters in the Call the Map polling average. Republicans hold 218 House seats and Democrats 214, with two vacancies. The Senate stands at 53 Republicans and 47 Democrats.
Thirty-six US states will hold gubernatorial elections in the upcoming vote, with Republicans currently governing 26 states and Democrats 24. According to Sabato's Crystal Ball at the University of Virginia, Democrats are favored to keep governorships in Arizona, Michigan, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin. Inside Climate News reports Democrats could also take seats from Republicans in Alaska, Iowa and Ohio, with chances in Georgia and Nevada, while Republicans have a strong chance of winning Kansas, now held by a Democrat. Dylan Reed, managing director of Advanced Energy United, says the governor's office is the top state post controlling energy policy and utility bills.
