Iran says three additional oil tankers were damaged in the Strait of Hormuz on 5 Nov, adding to earlier losses that include four tankers destroyed by mines and several vessels seized. The incidents come as the UK maritime agency notes at least five vessels have reported problems since 1 Nov, matching October's record of 35 hits. Oil prices have fallen more than $20 per barrel from the previous week, while Iran continues to down US-made drones and detain ships, and Qatar mediates between the United States and Tehran over the naval blockade.

Bloomberg reports that Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) is considering a third pipeline running from the UAE's western coast to the port of Fujairah, according to OilPrice.com. The UAE already runs one crude export line that avoids the Strait of Hormuz, a 252-mile route from Habshan to Fujairah. An ADNOC spokesperson told Bloomberg the report is not accurate and purely speculative. Saudi Arabia and Kuwait are also expanding or proposing routes around the strait.

Crude oil prices fell sharply in early November. Brent North Sea crude traded near 97 dollars per barrel on 5 Nov, down about twelve percent, while West Texas Intermediate dropped more than thirteen percent to around 88 dollars. Market analysts say Democrats' takeover of both the US House and Senate in midterm elections may raise the chances of a US deal with Iran. Oil had already dropped more than 7 percent on 3 Nov after Washington and Tehran signaled openness to talks. Earlier figures, including Brent near 103 dollars, predate the latest decline.
