Oscar Piastri receives a ten‑second penalty for a first‑lap collision that forces Oliver Lindblad to retire, and he ends the Mexico City Grand Prix in 13th place, down from seventh. The incident occurs on the opening corners of the circuit, where Lindblad's car leaves the track and hits the exit wall, ending his race. Piastri argues that the FIA’s driving‑standards guidelines are hard to enforce on corners with rapid direction changes, especially at the Mexican opening complex.

Kimi Antonelli secured the Formula One World Championship after finishing third at the Mexico City Grand Prix on 1 Nov, sealing an unassailable 119‑point lead. The 20‑year‑old Mercedes driver became the sport’s youngest champion, surpassing Sebastian Vettel’s record, and the first Italian title‑holder since Alberto Ascari in 1953. Max Verstappen won the race, while Antonelli was lifted onto the podium by Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton. The victory follows a season in which he won nine of 19 races and needed only a ninth‑place finish to clinch the crown.

Piastri says McLaren car is hard to handle

Oscar Piastri, McLaren Formula One driver, says the MCL40 is difficult to drive because it reacts sharply to small inputs. He describes the car as sensitive and narrow, requiring a qualifying-style approach through every corner. Piastri says it is faster than after the Austin race but still hard to control. McLaren fitted new front suspension and rear diffuser parts at the most recent United States round, and the team has not yet measured whether they raised the car's performance ceiling. Piastri says development will continue, though a solution may take years.
