Nordic leaders speak with Putin on Ukraine war
Finnish President Alexander Stubb and Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre held a 90-minute phone call with Russian President Vladimir Putin on 27 Oct, focused on ending the war in Ukraine. The Kremlin said Putin blamed EU and NATO confrontational policy for prolonging the fighting, and the three leaders agreed to keep direct telephone contact. The call was linked to a trilateral Ukraine, US and Russia meeting planned in Abu Dhabi after 4 Nov. Sources differ on the call date, with most reporting 27 Oct and one reporting 23 Oct. Zelensky was briefed afterwards.
